Aug. 15—B-R soccer beats Eastern

BLOOMINGTON — The Barr-Reeve Vikings soccer team earned their first victory on the road against the Eastern Greene Thunderbirds 7-1. Their season record is now 2-0.

There were four Viking goals scored in the first half; one each by Nolan McCain, Logan Gallagher, Dominic Wilson, and Landon Gallagher. First-half assists came from Ava Carter and Landon Gallagher. Wilson placed the first unassisted corner kick that bent into the back of the net.

The three goals in the second half were claimed by Logan Gallagher, Wilson, and McCain with Gallagher providing the only assist off a free kick. The first goal by way of header was achieved in this game also.

The Vikings host Vincennes Rivet behind Antioch Bible Church on Tuesday, Aug.22 with kickoff set for 5:30 p.m. B-R tennis goes to 2-0.

B-R shuts out Linton

MONTGOMRY — B-R threw its second straight shutout with a 5-0 win over Linton on Tuesday, losing just two individual varsity games.

At No. 1 Donnie Miller beat Holden Nagy 6-0, 6-0, while Xavier Meiring beat Justin Brown 6-0, 6-1 at 2 and Kierson Lengacher beat Owen Smith 6-0, 6-0 to complete the singles sweep.

In doubles, Ethan Stoll and Isaac Madison beat Conner Daily and Banx Mathis 6-0, 6-0, and Kyle Graber/Levi Lester beat Gavin Baker/ Micah Carter, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2.

B-R won all three singles and doubles matches.

Hatchets fall 4-0, 8-1 in doubleheader

The Washington Lady Hatchet soccer team fell 4-0 in its season opener at the Complex on Tuesday.

"For the first game of the season I was very proud with the girls seeing connections. The first half was what I felt even play," said coach Madison Lee.

The Hatchet boys lost 8-1 to a very good Bloomington South team to kick off their season at the Sports Complex. Jairo Dubon scored the lone goal for Washington.

WHS downs Southridge

The Washington Hatchet volleyball team beat Southridge in five close games on Thursday, 25-27, 23-25, 25-23, 25-9, 18-16 after losing the the first two games.

Vikes blank BNL

MONTGOMERY — The Barr-Reeve Tennis team won their match against Bedford North Lawrence 5-0 on Monday night to go 1-0 on the season.

At No. 1, Donnie Miller beat Jayden Kemp 6-1, 6-1, while Xavier Meiring beat Jackson Corey 6-0, 6-0 and Kierson Lengacher beat Orion Hill 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3.

In doubles, Ethan Stoll and Isaac Madison beat Drew Stephenson/ Neal Patel, 6-2, 6-0, while Kyle Graber and Levi Lester beat Gavin Baker and Micah Carter, 6-1, 6-1.

"I was pleased with how we played tonight. The guys put some time in this offseason, and it was good to see the improvement from top to bottom. It was a good start to our season. We are looking to carry that forward this season, said coach Brock Higgins.

In JV, B-R won all three doubles matches. Brody Swartzentruber/Alec Wagler won their match 8-1, Collin Graber/ Ben Lester won, 8-6 and Daniel Underwood/ Grant Armes won their match 8-1.

Lions fall to Jasper

Loogootee Varsity Volleyball was defeated tonight by Jasper 22-25, 22-25, 16-25 to fall to 1-0. The overall stat leaders were Sydnee Wittmer, Madison Ramsey, and Breanna Courter.

Breanna Courter had eight points, Madison Ramsey six, Addy Lengacher five, while Abbi Nonte added three aces.

Sydnee Wittmer had five kills,and Madison Ramsey, Alana Hedrick, and Ashlynn Gilbert with four each. Sydnee Wittmer had 12assists, Addy Lengacher eight. Madison Ramsey added three blocks, Sydnee Wittmer two. Breanna Courter had eight digs, Abbi Nonte six and Addy Lengacher three.

Loogootee JV volleyball was defeated by Jasper 16-25, 19-25.

WHS 3rd at Oaks

MONTGOMERY — Barr-Reeve won a local golf 3-way at Country Oaks on Monday. B-R shot 187, North Daviess 199 and WHS 200. Hatchet scores included Channey Clark with a 38, Grace Hickey at 50, Izzie Howell with a 54 and Mackenzie Spillman with a 58. B-R was led Olivia Emmons with a 42 and North Daviess' Lilly Graber shot a 43.

"Today was a challenging day with the weather delay due to lightning. However, I'm very proud of all of our girls and the improvements they are making this year. Congrats to Channey on medalist tonight with a 38. Also congrats to Grace, Ryley, Riley, and Lilly on setting their own PRs. We will be back in action on Thursday at Country Oaks against Pike Central, Lincoln, and North Daviess," said coach Josh Butcher.
