South Carolina men's basketball SEC opponents announced for 2024-25 season

COLUMBIA — South Carolina men's basketball has its conference opponents for the 2024-25 season.

The SEC announced conference opponents on Monday with additional details such as times and TV channels to be announced at a later date. Conference play officially starts Jan. 4 and will conclude by March 8.

Since last season, the SEC has expanded from 14 teams to 16, with Oklahoma and Texas joining the SEC starting this year.

At home, the Gamecocks and coach Lamont Paris will host Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Texas and Texas A&M at Colonial Life Arena.

On the road, the Gamecocks will travel to Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

The Gamecocks finished their 2023-24 season with a loss to Oregon in the first round of the NCAA tournament but had a program record-tying 26 wins. The Gamecocks tied for second in the SEC after being voted last in SEC preseason poll. South Carolina finished No. 23 in USA TODAY Sports coaches poll. After the 26-8 season, the Gamecocks lost leading scorer Meechie Johnson, a notable loss. Paris was successful in the transfer portal even after losing Johnson and picked up Nick Pringle, Jamarii Thomas and Jordan Bulter. Cam Scott, the No. 1 recruit in the state of South Carolina switched his commitment from Texas to South Carolina and will now play for the Gamecocks starting this season.

Both Pringle and Butler will face their former teams this season, as Pringle comes from Alabama and Butler transferred from Missouri.
