Sources: Charlie Strong will be next head coach at Texas

Charlie Strong will be the next Texas Longhorns head coach, sources told Yahoo Sports.

Strong informed Louisville he was leaving Saturday night, according to sources, and Texas is expected to make an announcement Sunday.

Strong went 37-15 in four seasons as the Louisville Cardinals head coach. Sources said that he delayed formally accepting the job until he could meet with his former boss, Cardinals athletic director Tom Jurich, who was traveling back to Louisville after cutting short a vacation in Colorado.

Strong was offered the Texas job Friday, sources told Yahoo Sports. Sports Illustrated reported that the offer was five years and $25 million.

Strong inherits a Longhorns program that went 158-48 in 16 seasons under former coach Mack Brown.
