Source: Chris Christie will remain on Mets board of directors if he enters presidential race

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is reportedly set to enter the presidential race on Tuesday — but in doing so, he would not cut his ties with the Mets.

According to a source with direct knowledge of the situation, Christie would remain on the team’s board of directors if he does indeed run.

Christie, a Republican, has been on the Mets’ board since 2021. He is a close friend of owner Steve Cohen, attends spring training, and is a regular presence at games at Citi Field.

Christie’s son, Andrew Christie, has worked in baseball operations for the team since 2018, when the Mets were owned by the Wilpon and Katz families.

Chris Christie served as governor of New Jersey from 2010-2018, and ran for president in 2016.
