Thai soloist Sorn released her first song of 2023, “Not A Friend.”

The song features production by Grammy-nominated Korean American Nick Lee, who is known for his work on the Lil Nas X track “Industry Baby.” “Not A Friend” also samples vocal basslines from Singaporean beatboxer Dharni.

"To me, this song is about how complex modern friendships can be—and not just in the industry, but in general. I think it’s something everyone can at some level relate to. I’m just done with fake friends," Sorn said in a press release.

As for Sorn’s industry friends, the singer recently clarified on a TikTok livestream that CLC, her K-pop group, has not disbanded, despite CUBE Entertainment’s official announcement last year.

We did not disband, we’re still a thing,” she said. “Right now everyone’s just doing their own thing. CLC did not disband yet, guys.”

She also explained that her departure from CUBE came down to the fact they allegedly did not want to promote CLC as a group anymore.

Since leaving CUBE, Sorn has released several solo singles such as “Sharp Objects” and “Nirvana Girl,” the latter featuring her fellow CLC member Yeeun.
