Sonya Curry is so stressed by Stephen vs. Seth she's skipping pre-game cocktails

Dell and Sonya Curry thought this would be fun. They’d get to watch their sons, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors and Seth Curry of the Portland Trail Blazers, match up in the Western Conference finals.

As it turns out, it’s not fun. And it’s impacting the family matriarch’s pre-game festivities. Doris Burke interviewed Dell during the first quarter of Game 2, an eventual Warriors win to put them up 2-0 in the series, and he dished on how hard his wife is taking it.

“She’s very stressed,” Dell said. “She normally has a cocktail before the game. No cocktail tonight, that’s how stressed she is.”

No cocktail! That’s how you de-stress, Sonya!

The Currys are the first family to experience brother vs. brother in a conference finals, so they’re being watched carefully as they figure it out for the next ones to come along. Some like to drink while stressed, others are so stressed they forget a drink is in front of them and still others pace ... with a drink in hand.

“It’s too hard,” Dell Curry said on the Warriors Insider Podcast. “This is the first time we’ve not been able to completely be all in with both kids. So it’s tough.”

The Curry couple are wearing two split jerseys they’re switching with each other throughout the series. One has Steph’s jersey on the front and Seth’s on the back and the other is Seth on the front, Steph on the back. They flipped a coin to see who would wear which to start.

Of course, the parents are ultimately cheering for both sons on every play and as a result it means a woman in a Portland jersey cheering on Golden State. Her eldest jokingly asked “who you with?” and told his parents to “fix themselves.”

Dell and Sonya’s son-in-law is also on the court. Steph’s Warriors teammate, Damion Lee, married Sydel Curry in 2018.
