SOFTBALL: Tuttle's Sirman inks with SNU

Nov. 9—Tuttle senior Lexie Sirman and the sport of softball go back a long time.

After finishing a successful career with the softball powerhouse that is Tuttle, Sirman and softball will continue to go together for the foreseeable future. Tuttle held a signing ceremony for several athletes earlier this week, and Sirman was one of the athletes to sign.

Signing with SNU

There were many reasons why Sirman decided on the school she chose, and one of those is a family history that goes back decades. Sirman will be continuing her career at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany.

Along with the family history, the school and softball program each had plenty of positives that helped Sirman decide to sign with the school. Signing with SNU was a sign that Sirman's work over the years was not for nothing.

"I love coach Madden and coach McFadden and the program, and it's close to home," Sirman said. "I also have a lot of family history at SNU that dates back to the 1930s, when it was called Bethany-Peniel College.

"After all the years of hard work and determination, it finally paid off, and I finally get to play the sport I love in college at the next level."

Sirman has been playing softball for several years, so Wednesday was a day to remember. Being able to sign in front of all her supporters made the day even more special.

"It means a lot to me," Sirman said. "They have put so much time, effort and money into the sport I love, and I am very thankful for everyone who has supported me."

Love for the game

One of the things that Sirman has loved about softball is all of the relationships that have developed from the sport.

"I love every single one of them so much," Sirman said about the friends she has made playing softball. "They have always been there for me and backed me up when I needed someone."

Sirman also loves the big moments softball provides, and she loves stepping up in those big moments.

"I love when all the pressure is on me in the big moments of the game, and I come through," she said.

Playing for Tuttle

Playing for Tuttle softball has provided plenty of memories for Sirman. She called her journey as a Lady Tiger an "amazing experience."

Sirman became an all-district player and an all-region player for the Lady Tigers. Her Tuttle High School career started off with a bang, and she has enjoyed her journey.

Sirman said one of her favorite years was that freshman campaign.

"I was a new student at Tuttle, and no one thought I was gonna start," she said. "But I beat the odds, and I was DH.

"We made it to state my freshman year, and we won the state championship against Lone Grove. It was a crazy experience, and it was the best feeling I have ever had."

And now Sirman will prepare to begin a new journey not too far away. She is extremely grateful to all those who helped her along the way.

"I am so thankful for all my coaches I had at Tuttle," she said. "I am also very thankful for all my friends and my parents."
