Softball Recap: Camden-Frontier gets second win against Pittsford; Reading beats Addison

HILLSDALE COUNTY — Another hard fought battle between Camden-Frontier softball and Pittsford ended with the RedHawks earning their sixth win of the season.

Camden-Frontier's 13-11 win over Pittsford saw Pittsford tie the game in the top of the sixth with a run scored by Mayci Revers on a ground out from Elizabeth Bump.

A two-run swing in the bottom of the sixth for Camden-Frontier was started on a Lexus Sigler triple. Tydann Cooney hit a ground out to first that would send Sigler home for the first run. A double from Elexis Landwehr was followed up with a sacrifice fly from Annabelle Corkel.

Heidi Gawronski earned the win in the circle for Camden-Frontier, pitching the final four innings, earning two strikeouts and allowing just one hit. Landwehr got the start for Camden-Frontier, earning three strikeouts over three innings. It was Gawronski's first win on the season.

Landwehr went 2-for-3 at the plate, hitting in two RBIs and scoring two runs. Karley Mckibbin had three hits in four at-bats, including a double, two RBIs and one run. Maddy Stephens had two hits, two RBIs and two runs. Cooney and Sigler each had one hit and two runs.

Shelby Bryner got the start for Pittsford, throwing three innings, giving up four earned runs. Laura Lemar pitched the final three innings, striking out three and giving up three earned runs. Every batter would score for Pittsford. Jacy Bleikamp had two hits and two runs. Bryner had two RBIs. Rebekah Henson had one hit and two runs. Lemar had one RBI and one run.

Reading sends Addison home with a loss, second game ends in tie

The Reading varsity softball team had a particularly successful bounce back doubleheader after their losses to Springport earlier this week. The Rangers beat Addison 20-5 in game one and then had game two end in a 2-2 tie.

Ariana McDowell earned her fourth win of the season, striking out four batters. The junior also scored four of the team's runs.

Senior Blakeleigh Cornstubble, Anderson softball commit, led the team with four RBIs. The shortstop also had two hits, including a double, and scored two runs. Catcher Maggie Santure had one double that brought in two runs. Santure would score three runs. First baseman Aubree Ervans had one hit, three RBIs and three runs. Kloee Monahan had one hit, two RBIs and one run.

Also scoring for the Rangers was Leah Headley with two runs, Grace Ladd with two runs and Ava Kitchen with three runs.

The 5-5 tie ended after four innings. Reading scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game after a four-run swing from Addison. Headley pitched the first three innings, finding success with five strikeouts and giving up four earned runs. Ervans and Cornstubble would close out the game.

Santure had a triple that scored one run. Santure would score a run. Cornstubble had one double, one BRI and one run. Kloee Monahan went three-for-three at-bat with two RBIs. Monahan also had a double. Headley had one hit, one RBI and one run. Ervans scored twice.

That closes out the week for Reading at 2-2 heading into the month of May.

Other winners

Waldron softball defeated Pittsford on Tuesday 14-8 and 18-11 in a double header sweep. No stats were available for the Spartans as of the writing of this article.
