SOFTBALL: Norwalk wins SBC Lake slugfest at Perkins

Apr. 27—PERKINS TWP. — The Norwalk softball team won a wild 14-12 game over host Perkins on Monday in an SBC Lake Division matchup.

The Truckers and Pirates combined for 26 runs on 31 hits, and had seven half-innings of three or four runs scored.

With the win, Norwalk improved to 6-10 overall and 5-3 in the Lake. Five players finished with multiple hits for the Truckers, who trailed 6-4 after three innings, but then took a 10-8 lead into the seventh — where both teams then traded four runs in the final inning.

Cossondra Shinski finished 3 for 5 with a double, a triple and three RBIs to pace Norwalk. Sophia Bores was 3 for 5 with a double, and Alex Nolan was 2 for 4 with a home run.

Also for the Truckers, Haley Gockstetter and Meadow Muratori each finished with two hits and an RBI, while Hayleigh Mills singled and had two RBIs, and Morgan Leber singled, drove in a run, and scored three times.

Norwalk is scheduled to visit New London on Thursday and then travels to Sandusky on Friday for an SBC Lake Division game.

MILAN — Kira Appeman threw a three-hit shutout over five innings as the Chargers blanked the visiting Crimson Flashes for an SBC Bay Division win Monday night.

For Edison, which improved to 12-4 overall and 4-2 in the Bay, five of the nine starters finished with multiple hits. Kalli Quillen was 2 for 3 with a triple, while Danielle Blatnik was 2 for 2 with two RBIs, and Olivia Vitaz was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

Also for the Chargers, Reagan King and Deana Blatnik each had two hits, with Blatnik driving in a run. Mallory Perkins also singled and drove in a run.

Natalie Rothhaar, Kaylee Davis and Savannah Rodriguez had singles for the Crimson Flashes (5-14, 1-6).
