Social media reacts to Texas WR Adonai Mitchell’s elite NFL combine
Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell had a huge day at the combine. In a matter of hours, he’s made himself a near lock to see his name called in the first round of the NFL draft.
Mitchell has the on-field production to warrant first-round consideration. He went for 11 touchdown receptions and 845 yards, which breaks down to more than 15 yards per reception for Texas in 2023.
The success extended to big moments such as the College Football Playoff in which he caught a second-half touchdown to keep the Longhorns in the game against the Washington Huskies. Earlier in the season, we noted Mitchell’s clutch play altered outcomes in Texas’ favor. While he consistently made plays, some had questions over his measurable athleticism. They don’t anymore.
The Missouri City, Texas, native ran his 40-yard dash in 4.35 seconds after putting up the No. 1 broad jump among receivers (11 feet, 4 inches).
Let’s look at how social media processed the impressive performance.

Knowing how to track inaccurate deep balls will be very important for Adonai Mitchell if he gets drafted by the Chiefs 💯 pic.twitter.com/JSWlWFTD3Q

Top 15?
After today Adonai Mitchell may just put his name in the top-15 pick conversation
We knew his catching radius was off the charts but having the best broad jump and now a 4.35s 40 is the cherry on top #HookEm | #Texas https://t.co/HtBM1u0eWf

Not buying the hype
I’ll be fading Adonai Mitchell.
I’ll have fun watching people chase hype.

Moving up draft boards
I had Adonai Mitchell as my WR5 heading into today. His grade was neck-and-neck with Brian Thomas Jr. on my board.
I’m not one to make massive changes after the Combine, but Mitchell might make his way up to WR4 for me. Absurd testing with very good tape.

Strong receiver class
Brian Thomas and Adonai Mitchell each would’ve been WR1 for me in last year’s class. Crazy how good this 2024 group is at the top. 5 first round grades is the most I’ve ever given out.
