Social media reacts to Iowa’s season-opening victory over Utah State

What a way to start the season! Everybody wants to kick things off with a win, and there’s nothing like doing it in dominant style!

While the scoreline may not have been as lopsided as some of the other Week 1 games out there, make no mistake, this game was all Iowa. The offense had their best start since, well, ever, and the defense was immediately up to the task.

Even when the offense started to stall midway through the game, the defense stood tall and kept the Aggies out of it. They gave up a garbage time touchdown with the reserves in.

It may not have been a perfect first performance from the 2023 Hawkeyes, but it’ll definitely do. There are kinks to work out on both sides of the ball, but it certainly was a better showing than last year’s 7-3 stinker against South Dakota State. It was a true Kirk Ferentz Iowa victory.

Social media had a ton of fun with this game, especially as the Hawkeyes started with two big passing touchdowns. If you followed this team at all last season, you know how big of a deal that is.

For the crown jewel of the Sickos Committee, this game certainly did not disappoint. Here are the best social media reactions to Iowa’s 24-14 season-opening victory over Utah State.
