Social media reaction as Tyler Buchner and Tommy Rees have awful day for Alabama
It wasn’t the debut as a starter at Alabama that former Notre Dame quarterback Tyler Buchner was looking for. After being second on the depth chart in Alabama’s first two games, Buchner was named the starter as the Crimson Tide traveled to South Florida on Saturday.
Unfortunately, Buchner struggled mightily as Alabama looked out of sorts under his direction. On their first five possessions, the Crimson Tide marched a grand total of 78 yards on offense. Buchner went just 5 of 14 passing for 34 yards and was benched to allow former mega-recruit Ty Simpson to play.
Simpson led Alabama to a field goal on his first possession and ultimately Alabama won 17-3 at South Florida. As you can probably imagine, social media reaction to Buchner’s outing as well as Tommy Rees’ playcalling was not kind.

Grand opening, grand closing?
I’m starting to think that Tyler Buchner’s run at starting quarterback for Alabama is close to being done.
Sad to see. I always have had that bit of hope that he’d go back to his junior season of high school form, but that was never the case.
Really tough showing so far today.

A rival behind Buchner transferring to Bama?
It’s time to ask ourselves if Tyler Buchner was paid by Tim Cook to be a deep state auburn plant in the Alabama football team

Yikes
Remember when people argued that Tyler Buchner was a better QB recruit than JJ McCarthy? 🤔

It wasn't that long ago...
I'm old enough to remember when Tyler Buchner and Logan Diggs leaving to the SEC via the portal was a bad thing for Notre Dame.

Tide in big trouble?
Alabama has some time to figure out what to do at quarterback as the Tide trail 3-0 vs. USF in the second quarter.
If Tyler Buchner is the answer, Alabama is in big trouble this year. https://t.co/9Xhyz9MNxf

Notre Dame doesn't need a quarterback, though...
Started a GoFundMe for Tyler Buchner’s bus ticket back to South Bend

Booger McFarland calls out Rees
Tommy Rees is to blame for this offense Sure the quarterbacks aren’t great throwing the ball but this offense leaves a lot to be desired

Was Rees ready?
I just don't think Tommy Rees was ready for the Alabama job.

Feel like we heard this story before...
The one constant in all this QB incompetence has been Tommy Rees.

Inside job by Rees?
Is it a conspiracy to say Tommy Rees took the Alabama job to ensure the Irish finally would rise above the Tide?
