Soccer standouts: Vote for the Storm Works Roofing High School Boys Athlete of the Week
Norwell High's Thomas Corbett has been voted the Storm Works Roofing & Restoration High School Boys Athlete of the Week.
The senior cross country star collected over 67,000 votes (55%) to earn the honor. Corbett took first at the South Shore League Championship Meet in 16:08.
And this week's candidates are...
SOCCER
Christopher Connelly, Sr., Hingham: Connelly scored a pair of goals in a 5-0 win over Catholic Memorial. He also tallied a pair of goals in a 7-0 win over Woburn in the Div. 2 Round of 32.
Diego Rivera, Sr., Oliver Ames: Rivera scored his first varsity goal in a 3-0 win over Chicopee Comp in the Div. 2 Round of 32.
Dylan Spadea, Eighth grade, West Bridgewater: Spadea scored a hat trick in a 6-0 win over Carver.
Nathan Askjaer, Jr., Cohasset: Askjaer scored a pair of goals in a 4-1 win over Mashpee in the Div. 4 Round of 32.
GOLF
Carson Erick, Sr., Hingham: At the Div. 1 state championships at Greathorse Country Club in Hampden, Erick tied for third by shooting a 3-over-par 73.
Zach Pelzar, Sr., + William Balz, Jr., Weston: Pelzar took second with a 74 and Balz tied for third with a 79 as the Wildcats won the Division 3 state title at Sterling National Country Club.
Charlie Potter, Soph., + Tim Hill, Sr., Dover-Sherborn: Potter carded a 1-over 71 to win the Division 2 state title at Brockton’s Thorny Lea Golf Club while Hill shot a 75 to tie for fourth as the Raiders took the D2 state championship. The title win came two years after they won the Division 3 state title.
