SLATE SET: BHS football season opens Sept. 1, extra Thursday game

When midnight crawls into June 1, there will be only 92 days until Bartlesville High School opens its football season.

The Claremore High Zebras will visit Custer Stadium for the Sept. 1 season debut.

Bartlesville is 3-0 the past three seasons against Claremore and leads the series, 8-1.

The Bruins will be home again Week 2 to take on Sapulpa, which edged Bartlesville last year by six points.

And, so the season gets underway (see the schedule below).

There will be a major difference this season.

Due to the shortage of officials, the OSSAA is mandating every team schedule an extra Thursday game in order to spread out their assignments.

Bartlesville will play back-to-back Thursday games in October, one at home (vs. Putnam City West) and the other at Sand Springs.
