Skate School Santa Fe is on the market

Feb. 5—The skateboard haven Skate School Santa Fe is for sale.

Longtime owner Joe Lehm hopes to find a buyer soon to keep the business going. His asking price is $65,000, which includes $10,000 in skate shop inventory, all of the ramps in the warehouse, two dozen school skateboards and helmets, and a collection of 16 antique skateboards. The sale will also include a recently updated website, domain name and social media accounts.

The sale also includes taking over the lease at 825 Early St., Unit H, the 2,100-square-foot indoor skatepark that Lehm said is the only indoor skateboard park in New Mexico.

Lehm started Skate School Santa Fe in 2003 and has been skateboarding since 1969. He was a consultant with the U.S. Olympic Committee when skateboarding was under consideration for the Summer Olympics in Tokyo in 2021.

"My family demands have just been growing," Lehm said. "I am taking care of older members of the family. I can't be able to do this as much as I would like."

Skate School teaches "kids" from "4 to 64" or older, Lehm said.

"We have Mom and Grandma skating with their family," he said.
