Sixers forward Tobias Harris named Eastern Conference Player of the Week

Philadelphia 76ers forward Tobias Harris had himself a very important season in the second year of 5-year max contract and he had a lot of expectations to live up to. After a rough first week where he had to adjust to yet another new role and a new–yet, familiar–coach in Doc Rivers, Harris is in a groove.

He has scored 20+ points in three straight games as Rivers has put him in the right spot to succeed on the floor next to Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid and the team is on a 3-game winning streak.

On Monday, it was announced that he was the recipient of the Eastern Conference Player of the Week award for the time period of Dec. 28 through Jan. 3. He averaged 23.5 points and 9.7 rebounds while shooting 57.1% from the floor.

Harris’ strong play is a credit to how hard he has worked in the offseason and, of course, Rivers being able to put him in the right spots to succeed. He will be looking to continue his hot play on Monday when Philadelphia hosts the Charlotte Hornets at 7:00 p.m. EST from the Wells Fargo Center.
