Sixers expect Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris to return at home vs. Raptors

The Philadelphia 76ers will continue their preseason schedule on Thursday with a rematch with the Toronto Raptors at home. After falling to the Raptors up in Canada on Monday, the scene now shifts to the Wells Fargo Center and the Sixers are expected to have two key players return.

Philadelphia was missing both Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris on Monday to begin the preseason. Embiid was out due to a scheduled rest day while Harris was out with right knee soreness after getting kneed in training camp before the game.

As they prepare for their second game, coach Doc Rivers expects both of them to play after a hard day of practice on Wednesday.

“Most likely, but we went pretty hard today,” said Rivers. “So, we always wait until tomorrow (Thursday).”

The reason why they went so hard at practice was due to conditioning. Rivers wanted the team to get back at it after he thought the team looked poor in that area on Monday. He explained how they can get improve in that aspect at practice.

“You just improve it by doing more running and more playing,” he stated. “I actually thought it was more playing at a higher level of intensity. There’s a difference between going through practice. I played for 13 years. I knew how to get through a practice and then I knew how to be intense in the practice and get more out of it and I thought that was part of it as well.”

The Sixers and the Raptors will tip-off at 7 p.m. EDT on Thursday in Philadelphia.
