Sipsey Valley's Rebecca Pearce signs to play golf at Jefferson State to lead top performers

Here are the Tuscaloosa area top performers from the week of Feb. 12-Feb. 16, from high school basketball, golf, soccer, baseball and softball.

Boys basketball

Demopolis's Zamarian Johnson scored 17 points to go along with four rebounds and two assists in a 54-44 win over Central-Clay County to advance to the Class 5A boys Elite 8.

Demopolis's Dalyn Jackson added 13 points to go with three assists.

Paul W. Bryant's Adrian Wooley had 12 points, four rebounds and four assists in the Stampede's 47-46 loss to McAdory in the AHSAA Central Regional semifinal.

Paul W. Bryant's Marchello Perkins added 11 points and two rebounds.

Sumter Central's Emmanuel Clarton scored 36 points and added seven assists and five rebounds in a 87-85 double-overtime win over Montgomery Academy to punch its ticket to the Class 3A Elite 8.

Sumter Central's Jonathan Fitch added 29 points to go with 12 rebounds.

Girls basketball

Hillcrest's Bri Turner led the team 12 points, four rebounds and two steals in a 51-19 victory over McAdory to advance to the girls Class 6A Central Regional final.

Hillcrest's Trinity Braggs added 10 points.

Hillcrest's Blakely Nixon added seven points.

Sumter Central's Shaniya Brown scored 11 points in a 55-33 loss to St. James in the Class 3A AHSAA central regional semifinal.

Boys soccer

American Christian Academy's DJ Daly scored seven goals in a 10-1 victory over Paul W. Bryant.

American Christian Academy's Walker Hill scored three goals and added one assist.

American Christian Academy's Kolton Ray added one assist.

American Christian Academy's Matthew Hale had five saves in goal while Oliver Sullivan had two.

American Christian Academy's Preston Lee scored the Patriots' lone goal in a 1-1 draw with Demopolis.

American Christian Academy's Oliver Sullivan had three saves in goal.

Brookwood's Vincent Walker scored two goals in a 4-1 win over Central, while Jacob Macon and Joseph Macon each added one goal.

Brookwood's Dimas Valle had six saves in goal.

Brookwood's Arturo Zapata and Jacob Macon each added two goals apiece in a 7-1 win over Bryant.

Brookwood won the Cooper Division of the Lakeshore Shootout, winning the first trophy in program history. Arturo Zapata scored six goals in the shootout, and Joseph Macon scored four.

Brookwood's Dimas Valle had 15 saves in the Lakeshore Shootout.

Northside's Lynn Otero scored the Rams' lone goal in a 1-1 tie to Holy Spirit and scored one goal in a 3-2 win over Central.

Northside's Eder Miranda scored one goal in a 3-2 win over Central.

Northside's Levi Jimenez scored one goal and added one assist.

Northside's Andy Otero added two assists.

Tuscaloosa County's Jose Nolasco had a hat trick in a 8-3 win over Brookwood along with adding an assist.

Tuscaloosa County's Jacob Gomez, Jose Ramirez, Dani Pablo and Jose Hernandez each scored one goal.

Tuscaloosa County's Junior Solis scored a goal and led the team with five assists, while Alex Ajualip added an assist.

Tuscaloosa County's Cooper Fanning had four saves in goal for the Wildcats.

Tuscaloosa County's Jose Nolasco led the team with two goals in a 10-0 win over Hamilton, while nine other Wildcats found the back of the net.

Tuscaloosa County's Junior Solis scored one goal and added three assists.

Tuscaloosa County's Jacob Gomez scored a goal and added an assist.

Tuscaloosa County's Cooper Fanning recorded three saves in the shutout.

Tuscaloosa County's Allee Hathcock scored the team's lone goal in the Southern Shootout in Foley, Alabama, and Laila Williams had the team's lone assist.

Tuscaloosa County's Allee Hathcock scored a hat trick, with goals in the second, third and seventh minute in the 6-5 loss to Brookwood and led the team with eight shots on goal.

Tuscaloosa County's Mariela Soto added a goal in the 47th minute and Peyton Culbertson added a goal off a penalty kick in the 59th minute.

Tuscaloosa County's Hayley Swanger, Laila Williams and Jennie Trejo each added one assist each.

Tuscaloosa County's Izzy Lyons had three saves in goal for the Lady Wildcats.

Tuscaloosa County's Jennie Trejo, Laila Williams and Hayley Swanger each scored a goal in a 3-0 win over Hamilton.

Golf

Sipsey Valley's Rebecca Pearce became the first golfer at Sipsey Valley to sign a collegiate scholarship, signing to play golf at Jefferson State.

Baseball

Paul W. Bryant's Brandon Gooden started for the Stampede in an 18-14 win over Hale County, where he struck out four batters. Gooden also finished with a double and a triple.

Paul W. Bryant's Jayden Smith came in as a relief pitcher for the Stampede, throwing six strikeouts to go along with hitting two doubles.

Paul W. Bryant's Cam McCleod and Dontae Blake had two RBIs a piece.

Softball

Tuscaloosa County's Jaslene Belden hit two home runs in the 4-3 loss to the Class 7A defending state champions Hewitt-Trussville.

Tuscaloosa County's Karlie Beasley struck out 10 batters and allowed five hits in six innings pitched.
