Sioux Falls Christian's boys (Class A) and Harrisburg's girls (Class AA) also repeat

BRANDON — Defending champion and top-seeded Tea Area stopped second-seeded Groton Area's bid for a title with a 3-1 victory in the state Class A high school girls soccer championship Saturday.

Cate Giles, Sage Hoffman and Kendra Nielson each scored goals for the Titans, who finished the season with an 12-3-2 record.

Jerica Locke scored for Groton Area (9-3-1).

Class A Boys

Top-seeded Sioux Falls Christian won its fourth-straight state title with a 4-2 win over third-seeded Tea Area.

The Chargers (15-0-2) received goals from Emerson Brazones, Vadim Strizheus, Boston Gerdes and Brant Griebel.

Ivan Zamora and Gavin Reiners each scored for Tea Area (8-9).

Class AA Girls

Second-seeded Harrisburg (17-1) repeated as the state champion by using four goals from Jaylee Hofer to roll past top-seeded Mitchell.

Hailee Christensen, Ella Walton, Ella Weide and Brynn Skogen also scored the Harrisburg.

Mia Muellenmeister tallied the lone goal for Mitchell (16-2).

Class AA Boys

Top-seeded Sioux Falls Lincoln (14-0-2) defeated second-seeded O'Gorman (13-2-2) 3-2 on penalty kicks to win the division championship.

The two teams were tied at 1-1 after regulation and 2-2 after overtime. Lincoln went 5-for-5 in the shootout to defeat O'Gorman, which was 3-for-4.

O'Gorman led 1-0 at halftime on a goal by Santiago Patino. Lincoln's Ryder Syverson scored with 10 minutes left in the match to force two 10-minute overtime periods. Syverson scored again in the first overtime, but Patino tied the match for O'Gorman in the second overtime to create the shootout. Camden Thomas' goal in the shootout clinched the win for Lincoln.
