Simone Biles says she and Packers' Jonathan Owens 'cherish moments' during discussion on long-distance marriage

Inside and outside of the gymnastics arena, Simone Biles is a different person than she was at the Olympics in 2021.

And it's all for the better, Biles says, as she goes on "the path" toward the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

"I have to take care of myself a little bit more and listen to my body and making sure that I'm making time for the important things in my life rather than before it was just like go, go, go, and then making time after," Biles said during an appearance on "The Today Show" Thursday. "And this time around, it's like being intentional, going to therapy, making sure everything is aligned so that I can do the best in the gym, and be like a good wife, good daughter, good friend and all the good things."

Everything appears to be aligning these days for Biles, a four-time Olympic gold medalist and 19-time world champion whose mental health became front and center during the Tokyo Games two years ago after she withdrew from multiple events with a case of the twisties.

The 26-year-old Biles took two years off from competitive gymnastics before making a successful comeback last month, which included a record-breaking victory at the U.S. championships.

Simone Biles won a record eighth U.S. title at the 2023 U.S. Gymnastics Championships. Biles, who is married to Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens, is eying the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Another area of importance to her in 2023 has been becoming a wife and supporting her husband, Green Bay Packers safety Jonathan Owens.

Even though it's a long-distance marriage right now, Biles said the two "cherish the moments that we get together."

Biles shared images of their future home together on her Instagram account last week with the caption "Loading."

In between competitions in August, Biles made appearances at two Packers preseason games, one in Cincinnati and another in Green Bay.

She wrote on her Instagram account after the Cincinnati game, in which she joined her husband on the field, "long distance isn’t easy, but seeing you play your heart out is so worth it 💛 I’m so proud of you baby."

The two were married in April at a courthouse in Houston and then had a destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with family and friends a couple weeks later.

"Right after Cabo, he went to Green Bay and he signed and, like two days later, he was up there," Biles said on "The Today Show." "It's been different but at least we're both busy and focusing on our respective sports."

A breakout season with the Houston Texans in 2022 led Owens, who has had to battle for every opportunity during his NFL career, to the Packers.

Undrafted out of a Division II school, Owens had an up-and-down training camp, though he's part of a safety room with some questions.

He'll make his Packers regular-season debut Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

"He's doing great out in Green Bay," Biles said.
