Signing Day: What Indiana University baseball gets from La Salle's Devin Taylor

As soon as La Salle's Devin Taylor stepped on a high school baseball field, he became one of the best hitters not just in the Greater Catholic League South or Cincinnati, but in the state of Ohio.

In the 2019 freshman campaign for the Lancers, Taylor was the GCL-South Player of the Year. In 21 games, Taylor hit for a .443 average and had an on-base mark of .513 with three home runs and a league-high 30 runs batted in.

After the season in October 2019, Taylor announced his commitment to Indiana University. The Hoosiers themselves were fresh off of a third-straight NCAA Tournament appearance.

The encore performance for Taylor was nonexistent after spring sports were canceled in 2020 with the COVID-19 pandemic and despite an injury-abbreviated season in 2021, Taylor was still a First-Team All-GCL selection.

Taylor makes home mostly in the outfield but gets time as a designated hitter as well.

Taylor will bring some speed to Bloomington as well as his excellent bat and hitting ability that shines in the spring as well as in the club and showcase circuit.

Hitting for average, Taylor has also been among the league leaders in home runs and still has room for his power to grow even further.
