Series recap: The Jumbo Shrimp's pattern of slow series starts continued last week against the Charlotte Knights, dropping their games on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. It's the fifth consecutive series in which Jacksonville has lost the first game, and in four of those five, they've begun at 0-2.

Crustacean sensation: Despite the Jumbo Shrimp's recent struggles, shortstop Jacob Amaya continues to produce runs. Amaya has batted .454 during the two weeks since May 12, including a home run Thursday against Charlotte.

On deck: The International League East champion last year, Durham started slowly but has picked up the pace to rise to second behind runaway early leader Norfolk. The Jumbo Shrimp will encounter a Jacksonville original this week in Bishop Kenny High School graduate Ben Gamel, who is reaching base at a .385 clip this year for the Tampa Bay Rays' Triple-A affiliates.
