Shaquille O'Neal promises to wear Stone Cold Steve Austin outfit if Lakers make playoffs

There was a time that Shaquille O'Neal made it his mission for the Los Angeles Lakers to make the playoffs.

Now, two decades away from his playing days in the yellow and purple, O'Neal thinks it would be a joke if the team made the postseason.

On Tuesday, Memphis Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks showed up to the game against the Lakers in a Stone Cold Steve Austin-inspired outfit. His look featured a black vest with no shirt and ripped jean shorts.

O'Neal and his fellow "Inside the NBA" crew got a kick out of the outfit and the big man said that he would wear it if the Lakers make the playoffs.

"I'll wear that on the last show," the Hall of Famer said with a straight face.

The Lakers lost 121-109 on Tuesday night and are currently 12th in the Western Conference. They could be without LeBron James for several weeks as he deals with a foot injury. They missed the playoffs last year after winning the NBA championship in 2020.

POSTSEASON PUSH: LeBron James embarks on 'the 23 most important regular-season games of my career'

Whether he plays or not, the new scoring king said during All-Star weekend that the rest of the season was "the 23 most important regular-season games of my career."

"I want to make a push to make the playoffs," he said. "I don’t want to see myself not being involved in the playoffs for two years straight. It’s not part of my DNA sitting up here talking about records and things of that nature. That’s all cool, but I’m more passionate about trying to make the postseason. That’s just who I am."
