SFCA hires college baseball coach Jeff Mullikin to lead King's program

Southwest Florida Christian Academy has hired Jeff Mullikin as its baseball coach.

Mullikin joins SFCA after a successful 12-year collegiate coaching career, seven of which he was the head coach, replacing interim Nick Gerwitz from this past season.  SFCA is coming off a season in which it won the District 2A-12 title, the first in program history.

Mullikin won over 220 wins as a college coach and multiple players who have signed professionally. A two-time Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference head coach of the Year in 2021 and 2022, Mullikin compiled an overall record of 124-92 over his four full seasons at the helm of Olivet Nazarene University. His teams were 85-35 in conference play.

After taking over the ONU baseball program in 2019, he led the Tigers to back-to-back conference regular-season titles and tournament championships in 2021 and 2022. Those two squads racked up 38 wins each year and qualified for the NAIA National Tournament in their respective seasons.  Along with coaching 60 All-Academic Players, 26 All-Conference Players, a two-time pitcher of the year and player of the year.

Before Olivet, Mullikin spent three seasons as the head coach at Toccoa Falls College.  While at Toccoa he coached the first player to sign professionally took the program back to the NCCAA World Series and successfully led them to three South Regional Tournaments. Coach Mullikin won the NCCAA South Region Coach of the Year in 2019 along with leading the FCA on campus. Mullikin also spent four years as an associate scout for the Kansas City Royals covering Melbourne to Atlanta, GA.

During Mullikin's tenure at Toccoa Falls, the team experienced immediate success as the team improved from 15 wins to 27 wins in just one season. In his last season, Mullikin guided the Screaming Eagles to 23 wins and two wins at the NCCAA World Series. Under Mullikin's leadership, the baseball program produced three NCCAA All-Americans and eight NCCAA All-Region players.

"My goal is to build lasting relationships with the players and help mold them into the men God has called them to be," Mullikin said in a release. "I look to build on the success of the previous seasons of the program and use the team's talents to honor and glorify God. I will focus on the legacy each member of the program leaves behind and have them focus on the impact they will leave on the team, on the campus of Southwest Florida Christian Academy, and the world they are going to enter."

On how he will work to accomplish these goals, Mullikin said, "I strive to ensure that a family environment and brotherhood exist on the team. I believe in maintaining a culture where the players feel ownership in the program and buy into what it takes to perform at a championship level worthy of SFCA."

Mullikin got his coaching start as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for his alma mater MidAmerica Nazarene from 2012-2015.  At MidAmerica, he led the pitching staff to new records and was a part of the first 40-plus win season in school history, the first regular-season championship and tournament championship in MNU baseball history.

Mullikin played college baseball at the Savannah College of Art and Design and was a member of the baseball program that set the school record in wins and set several school records.  In Mullikin’s senior season, he was voted team captain and was the Male Strength and Conditioning athlete of the year.
