Gov. Kevin Stitt attended the Red River Rivalry college football game between the University of Oklahoma Sooners (OU) and the University of Texas (UT) Longhorns at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas last Saturday. Oklahoma won 34-30 and Stitt won a bet with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

The rivalry between the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas also extends to the governors' mansions.

Each year, Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott place a bet that their state's respective team will top the other in the annual grudge match.

Abbott posted a video on X, previously known as Twitter, on Friday morning to challenge Stitt to renew the bet. The team's winner gets to keep the Governor's Cup trophy for the year, and the loser sends barbecue and a case of beer to the victor.

Stitt replied with a "Boomer Sooner" video of his own. His caption stated the trophy would be "back on God’s side of the Red River before you know it."

Who won the OU-Texas game?

This year, the Sooners took down the Longhorns 34-30.

The governor tweeted on Saturday, "you can pay off your bet and send the beer and bbq to the Oklahoma Governor’s mansion. #HornsDown"

According to the governor's office, the barbecue and beer will arrive Wednesday.
