Selinsgrove pulls away from Greenwood

Oct. 17—SELINSGROVE — Alli Bucher scored a goal and assisted on two others — all in the second half — as Selinsgrove broke a tie and pulled away from Greenwood for a 4-1 nonleague field hockey win Monday.

Bucher's senior classmate Carly Aument added a pair of goals and an assist in the Senior Night victory that pushed the class's four-year record to @.

"Aument and Bucher were electric up front," said Seals coach Roz Erb. "Strong play in the midfield and defensive circle by (seniors) Ali Beddall, Lexy Freed, Abbey Gearhart and Lexi Felty was key in stopping Greenwood's offense."

The Seals (12-5) recognized their 10-girl senior class before senior Makayla Barge scored her first career goal just 2 minutes, 10 seconds into the game. The Wildcats (4-11-2) tied the score with freshman Gabi Gantt's goal late in the half.

Aument, who assisted on Barge's tally, scored the go-ahead goal at the 8:37 mark of the third quarter. The senior added her career-high 20th goal of the season in the fourth, upping her career-best point total to 51. She has 133 career points.

With her four points in the game, Bucher increased her career-high assist total to 16 and moved her point total to a career-best 28.

"I thought we were unselfish in our play and did the little things right," Erb said. "They don't show up in the scorebook, but those are the things we need at this time of the year."

Ashlin Bucher made six saves for Greenwood, which dropped its fourth in a row.
