See who made our Varsity 845 high school football watch list

The long wait is over: High school football is about to begin. Week Zero action starts on Sept. 1. The season runs into the first weekend of December this season, culminating with the New York state finals in Syracuse.

James I. O’Neill made that trip to the JMA Dome in 2022 and came away with the state Class C championship. Newburgh Free Academy also reached that far but came up one win short in the Class AA finals.

The Section 9 coaches across Orange, Ulster, Sullivan and Dutchess counties have identified a host of young, talented players, names you will surely read about over the next three months.
