See Jayden McGowan's kickoff return TD for Vanderbilt football in season opener vs. Hawaii

Vanderbilt football receiver Jayden McGowan got an early chance to show off his speed in the first game of his sophomore season against Hawaii.

On a first-quarter kickoff, McGowan sprinted past several Hawaii tacklers down the left sideline and scored on a 97-yard kickoff return Saturday at FirstBank Stadium.

Take a look, via SEC Network and Vandy on Twitter.com:

McGowan had a good freshman season, catching 44 passes for 453 yards and three touchdowns. He's expected to feature alongside Will Sheppard in the Vandy offense.

As far as speed goes, McGowan checks the box. The native of Laurens, South Carolina, ran a 10.6 in the 100 meters in high school. No one was going to catch him Saturday night.

McGowan's kickoff return for a TD for Vanderbilt is the first since Darrius Sims' 100-yard return against South Carolina in 2014.
