SEC schedule release: Full schedules for all SEC teams including Texas, Oklahoma football
ESPN released the 2024 SEC schedule Wednesday, showing the full slate of games for one of the preeminent conferences in college football.
Texas and Oklahoma, two marquee programs, will be welcomed into the fold in 2024. The conference is playing an eight-game schedule, but there is a debate whether that will continue, or move to nine.
The addition of the two also brings the abolishment of divisions, meaning the SEC West and SEC East no longer exist. Alabama and Georgia, the respective division champions, will play each other Sept. 28 in an SEC Championship rematch. Alabama, of course, won this year's iteration 27-24 to play its way into the College Football Playoff.
Keeping on the topic of Alabama and Georgia: The Crimson Tide's bout with Oklahoma has been announced as Nov. 23 in Norman. Georgia will play Texas on Oct. 19 in Austin, which serves as the other marquee matchup.
Alabama, of course, is coming off a home-and-home against Texas, in which the road team won each game.

SEC schedule format 2024
As the SEC adjusts to its new normal, debates over a 7+1 or 6+3 approach continue. Under 7+1, teams would play seven conference opponents on a rotating basis and have one established rival. This would keep the SEC in the familiar eight-game format.
In the 6+3 format, teams would play six teams on rotation and have three established rivals. The nine-game format would be in-line with the Big 12 and Big Ten. The ACC plays an eight-game schedule, whereas the Pac-12 played nine before its dissolution after the 2023-24 season.
In 2024, SEC teams will play eight conference opponents and one opponent from the Big 12, Big Ten, ACC, major independent, or Washington State/Oregon State.
