Seahawks select OT Charles Cross with 9th overall pick acquired from Broncos

The Seattle Seahawks used the ninth overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft on Thursday evening to select Mississippi State offensive tackle Charles Cross.

Seattle acquired pick No. 9 from the Denver Broncos last month as part of the Russell Wilson trade. The Seahawks agreed to trade Wilson and their fourth-round pick to the Broncos in exchange for quarterback Drew Lock, tight end Noah Fant, defensive lineman Shelby Harris, two first-round picks, two second-round picks and a fifth-round pick.

Denver’s not sweating sitting out Day 1 of the draft.

“We love having first-round picks. We love having the early second, but we also love having a franchise quarterback that sets the tone every day in the building,” general manager George Paton said last week.

“I come in here and he’s here working. There is a reason he’s great. It’s because of the work he puts into it. All the players and the entire organization is watching. There is no pain in that. On that first day [of the draft], we’ll watch Russell Wilson highlights.”

Paton will make the Broncos’ first pick of the draft on Friday night.
