Seahawks rookie corner locks down Ja’Marr Chase

Coming off his best game of the year, Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase in which he went for 192 yards and three touchdowns, Chase looked to be back on track to have another All-Pro-type season. Going into a game against the Seattle Seahawks there was some minor chatter about the matchup between Chase and Seattle’s super talented rookie corner Devon Witherspoon. That chatter was answered in a big way by the rookie.

When Witherspoon was responsible for covering Chase, he completely locked him down, allowing no receptions on just two targets. Chase had to move around the field to find some minor success, which ultimately resulted in six catches for 80 yards.

The fact that the Seattle Seahawks nabbed the likes of Witherspoon who is looking like an early candidate for defensive rookie of the year, to go opposite of last year’s explosive rookie corner Tariq Woolen is scary to think about. Over the next two seasons, this duo looks to be a nightmare matchup reminiscent of the ‘Legion of Boom’ that used to roam Lumen field during their Super Bowl era.

If Witherspoon and Woolen can grow together as a duo, there is little doubt that they will claim the top corner duo in the league sooner rather than later.
