Seahawks: Predictions for each game on their 2022 schedule

The Seattle Seahawks have enjoyed about as much success over the last two decades as any NFL franchise can reasonably expect. During that time they’ve had either a Pro-Bowler or a future Hall of Fame quarterback for all but one season. They’ve made the playoffs 14 times, advanced to three Super Bowls and won one of them by 35 points.

This offseason has proven anything is possible and there’s always a chance this team could make a quick turnaround. However, on paper it looks like the party is over. Most sportsbooks have Seattle’s over/under for 2022 at 5.5 wins. There’s nothing wrong with a little homerism, but we’re not expecting them to do much better than that. Here are our predictions for each game on the schedule this year.

Rewriting history is always easy in hindsight, but from our perspective this team actually underachieved over the last 10 years. If they’d only left Ricardo Lockette on the sideline for one critical play and actually embraced an aggressive passing offense with their former franchise quarterback we think they’d have at least two more Lombardis in their trophy case.

In any case, the Seahawks were the best team in football from 2012-2015 and since then it’s been a slow but steady fall. While they’ve remained competitive over the last seven years most of that success was thanks to Russell Wilson carrying an imbalanced team with an outdated philosophy.

Now, the chickens have come home to roost. Thanks to a pair of extremely poorly-advised blockbuster trades, the outlook for this team in the immediate future is not good. All that can change if they manage to find a new star quarterback in next year’s draft, but for now fans should probably get used to the idea of losing more games than they win.
