Seacoast roundup: Walsh hat trick leads Portsmouth field hockey past Sanborn

PORTSMOUTH - Audrey Walsh had three goals, and Shiloh Weinstein and Grace Lucy both had two as the Portsmouth High School field hockey team blanked Sanborn, 10-0 on Wednesday in a Division II match.

Portsmouth is now 5-1 on the season.

Sophie Berling, Clara Daw, and Karina Beer all had one goal for the Clippers. Sydney Moreau added three assists in the win, while Pettigrew, Weinstein, Irie Weinstein, and Hannah Pettigrew all had one.

Portsmouth goalie Reese McCauley had one save.

YORK, Maine - Sophomore Maddie Fitzgerald scored the game's only for York (3-2-1) in this Class B South win.

Oyster River goalie Brooke Emond played well in defeat.

EXETER - Izzy Steiner and Dani Caron each had two goals, and Elsa Bishop and Garen Steiner both had one for Exeter in this Division I match.

Garen Steiner and Mel Roth each had an assist.

SOMERSWORTH - Alex Brown had three goals and Tristian Doyle had one for Somersworth in a Division IV match.

Lincoln Godzik had two assists for the Hilltoppers, while Fredrick Andrian and Jacob Pincince both had one. Somersworth goalie Lincoln Godzik had 10 saves.

NEWMARKET - Jillian Long had two goals and two assists for Newmarket in this Division IV match.

Emma Crumb, Morgan Boucher, Lydia Edgerly, Olivia Blackadar and Mairaid Moore all had one goal.

DOVER - Camila Garcia's 30 assists as St. Thomas Aquinas swept this Division II match, 25-15, 25-16, 27-25.

Alaina Hathaway had 11 kills for the Saints, while teammate Asia Saffie had 13 digs.

DOVER - Tory Vitko had 17 kills and Quinn Carberry had 19 assists as Dover improved to 7-0 with this Division I win.

Individual game scores were 25-15, 25-22, 25-17.

This makes us 7-0. We play on Monday against Windham at 6:15.

Dover's Reagan Bernard contributed with eight kills.

YORK, Maine - Brooke Roe's 14 kills and four aces led York to this Class B match.

Individual game scores were 25-23, 26-24, 23-15.

Sophomore Maya Babcok had 25 digs for York, now 4-1 on the season.

HILLSBORO - Quinn Arico's seven kills, seven aces, and four assists led Portsmouth Christian Academy (3-3) to this Division III win.

Individual game scores were 25-16, 25-16, 25-4,

Kailey Holt (11 assists, 10 aces, three kills), Lexi Jordan (eight aces) and Maycie Andress (four kills) led PCA.

GOLF

Winnacunnet sweeps Division II match

LOUDON - Junior Jimmy Schouller carded a 2-over-par 38 and senior June Doerr had a 39 for Winnacunnet in this three-team match at Loudon Country Club.

Winnacunnet won with a team score of 207, while Merrimack Valley (211) and Kingswood (258) placed second and third, respectively.

Ellliot Brinser (42), Drew Marelli (43) and Chris Berry (45) rounded out Winnacunnet's top five.

Johnston is medalist for Exeter in four-team match

MANCHESTER - Jascha Johnston carded a 2-over-par 38, leading Exeter to a second-place finish at Manchester Country Club.

Bedford won with a team score of 207, seven shots better than Exeter (214). Spaulding (224) and Central (238) placed third and fourth, respectively.

Will Evans shot a 41 for the Blue Hawks, and Chad Watson had a 42. Bryce McGuinness (46) and Adam Boys (47) rounded out the Exeter lineup.

Winnacunnet 9

HAMPTON - Riley Willard scored four goals, and Josh Gross had three for Portsmouth in its season-opening game.

James Archambault, Anya Gronblom, Jazzy Johnson-Timmons, Lexi Lambert, and Ash Markley all had one goal for the Clippers.

For Winnacunnet, freshman Micah Roy had four goals, and Cami Morrow had three. Teammates Claudia Spaulding and Alec Cirulli both had one.
