Seacoast roundup: Portsmouth has seven golfers shoot 39 or better in Division II sweep

NORTH CONWAY – Shea Harrison and Cal Rothstein each carded rounds of 2-over-par 37, leading the Portsmouth High School golf team to a three-team sweep Wednesday at North Conway Country Club.

Portsmouth had a team score of 191, while Kennett (221) and Kingswood (229) placed second and third, respectively.

Turner Leduc shot a 38 for the Clippers, while Briggs Williams, Eli Poteet, Grey Gagnon and Grant Haberstroh all had a 39.

“Great performance by the team today top to bottom,” Portsmouth head coach Kyle Harrison said. “To not have to use two scores of 39 shows how good and deep this team can be.”

GOLF

Winnacunnet places third in four-team match 

WINDHAM – June Doerr shot a 2-over-par 37 and Jimmy Schouller had a 39 for Winnacunnet in a four-team match at Windham Country Club.

Winnacunnet had a team score of 207 and placed third. Windham won with a team score of 191, while Bow (200) was second and Milford (240) was fourth.

Exeter wins four-team match 

DERRY – Jascha Johnston shot a medalist round of 3-under-par 33, leading Exeter to this Division I win at Hoodkroft Country Club.

Exeter had a team score of 195, while Nashua North (214), Pinkerton (215) and Salem (219) placed second through fourth, respectively.

Bryce McGuiness shot a 35 for the Blue Hawks, while Chad Watson shot a 40, and Braeden Gwinn and Williams Evans both shot a 43.

FIELD HOCKEY

Portsmouth 1 

Souhegan 1 

PORTSMOUTH – Sydney Moreau scored for Portsmouth (6-3-1) in the first half, on an assist from Sam Ruel, and Souhegan tied the match in the fourth quarter.

Portsmouth goalie Reese McCauley had 13 saves, while Maddie Conklin starred defensively.

Winnacunnet 1 

Windham 1 

WINDHAM – Emerson Parish, with an assist by Hayden Adams, scored for the Warriors in this Division I tie.

Winnacunnet goalie Amber Morgado had seven saves.

Newport 3 

St. Thomas Aquinas 1 

NEWPORT – Kadence Law scored for St. Thomas Aquinas in this Division III loss. STA goalie Kensley Harris shined.

Marshwood 2 

Falmouth 1, OT 

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine – Erika Parker, off a corner from Eva Hersey, scored the game-winning goal midway through overtime of this Class A South contest.

Hersey tied the game with less than 2 minutes left, scoring on a rebound off a shot by Sienna Sapountsis.

VOLLEYBALL

Goffstown 3

DOVER – The Green Wave suffered their first loss of the season, dropping this Division I match, 25-13, 23-25, 25-14, 25-19.

Tory Vitko led Dover (8-1) with 11 kills and nine blocks, while Aidyn Stone had 17 digs and Ava Pohopek had four blocks

St. Thomas Aquinas 3 

Kingswood 1 

WOLFEBORO – Camila Garcia (29 assists), Asia Saffie (16 digs) and Meeghan Quinn (11 kills) led St. Thomas Aquinas to this Division II win.

Individual game scores were 25-23, 23-25, 25-15, 25-21.

Portsmouth Christian Academy 3 

Prospect Mountain 0 

DOVER – Quinn Arico had nine kills, 13 assists and and nine digs, lifting PCA (6-3) to this Division III victory.

Individual game scores were 25-12, 25-20, 25-22.

Kailey Holt (eight kills, 15 assists, five aces, 10 digs), Heidi Geyer (six kills), Madelyn Hardy (five kills, two blocks) shined in the win.

Hollis-Brookline 3

Portsmouth 2

PORTSMOUTH - Georigia Pinciaro lead the team with 12 kills, and Margaret Montplaisir had 11, and Maddie MacCannell 10 for Portsmouth in this Division II loss.

Individual game scores were 22-15, 14-26, 27-25, 15-10.

Roe Beland had a season-high seven blocks, while Eva Lalime had 28 assists and three aces.

GIRLS SOCCER

St. Thomas Aquinas 4

KINGSTON – Maddie Karsonovich had two goals and Caleigh Bronson and Maia Scanlon both had one for St. Thomas in this Division III win.

Kate Burrus added two assists for the Saints, while Elizabeth Flynn and Reece Anderson both had one.

Portsmouth Christian Academy 2 

Sunapee 1, OT 

SUNAPEE – Tatum Smith scored both goals for PCA (7-1) in this Division IV overtime victory.

Sawyer Yim assisted on Smith’s first goal, while Tatiana Stockbower assisted on the game-winner.

PCA goalie Ella Walsh had four saves.

Marshwood 3

Westbrook

WESTBROOK, Maine – Sarah Theriault, Rowan Waddell and Lucy Parker each scored a goal for Marshwood in this Class A South shutout.

Theriault, Tia Anderson and Maddy Poitras each had an assist for the Hawks.

Marshwood goalie Lana Emery had 10 saves, earning the shutout.

MIDDLE SCHOOL FIELD HOCKEY

PORTSMOUTH - Sierra Chapnick and Brooklyn Wilt starred defensively for the Clippers, while goalies Charlotte Daboul and Raighyn Henry combined for 10 saves.
