Seacoast Friday roundup: Winnacunnet, Marshwood, Exeter, York softball all roll, more

HAMPTON - Senior Joslyn Snow homered and drove in five runs as the Winnacunnet High School softball team sprayed 15 hits around the field and beat Dover, 21-0 on Friday in a Division I game.

The Warriors scored four runs in the first and fourth innings, seven in the second, and six in the third. Lucy Gelbstein and Arden Langmaid both had three hits and two RBIs for the Warriors, and Fenway Schouller had a hit and drove in three.

Lilly Snow and Halisa Carter both added two hits for WHS, now 7-1 on the season. Maddy Eaton struck out four and allowed one hit over three innings, earning the win. Teammate Chloe Cunningham struck out four in two scoreless innings.

Elizabeth Cook had the lone hit for Dover (3-3).

NASHUA - Annie Christiana had three hits, scored four runs and drove in one for Exeter (6-2) in this Division I win.

The Blue Hawks scored two runs in the first, one in the fourth and 12 in the seventh inning, breaking open a close game.

Summer LeClerc had four hits, scored two runs and drove in one for Exeter, while Madi Paige (two hits, two runs, three RBIs), Kristen Bickford (three hits, five RBIs), Madi Mann (home run, two runs, two RBIs), and Avery Allard (three hits, two runs, RBI) led the offense.

LeClerc struck out seven and allowed one hit and one unearned run over six innings, earning the win.

York 8

Fryeburg Academy 2

FRYEBURG, Maine - Freshman Sarah Orso struck out four and pitched a no-hitter as York improved to 3-0 with this Class B South win.

Sophomore Maddie Fitzgerald had four hits and an RBI for the Wildcats, while McKayla Kortes and Lindsay Rivers both had two hits and two RBIs, and Ava Brent had two hits.

Marshwood 29

Noble 3

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine - The Hawks scored 22 runs in the first inning, and seven in the second, cruising to this Class A South win.

The game was called after the third inning.

Erin Lindgren (four RBIs) and Piper Catanese (two RBIs) both had four hits for Marshwood, while Lindsay Bennett (two hits, four runs, two RBIs), Emily Hester (hit, two runs, three RBIs) and Kaydence Wilder (two hits, run, three RBIs) contributed.

EXETER - Cam Keaveney struck out six and allowed one hit over five innings, earning the win for Exeter in this Division I game.

Hayden Schimoler, Mike Caron, and Shea LaFleur all had two hits for Exeter, while Keaveney, Brennan Schimoler and Kyle Morgado all had one.

Fryeburg Academy 5

FRYEBURG, Maine - Ben Brown had four hits, scored four runs and drove in two for York in this Class B South win. Leo Sullivan added three hits and three RBIs for the Wildcats, and Alex Taylor had two hits and scored two runs. Teammate Brody Gullison had one hit and scored two runs.

Newmarket 12

Pittsfield 1

PITTSFIELD - Freshman Jack Ferrelli hit three home runs and drove in five, leading Newmarket (5-1) to this Division IV win.

Evan Sheehan and Cam Moran both homered and had three RBIs for the Mules, while Parker Sweitzer (two doubles, two runs), John Schlieder (hit, two runs), and Jackie Prompradit (hit, run) led the offense.

WAYNFLETE, Maine - The Rangers scored six runs in the sixth inning and rallied for this Class C South win.

Colby Christiansen's two-run double gave the Rangers the lead for good, while Sean Webster had two hits and two RBIs. Phin Fifield and Chris Balano both had a hit and scored two runs in the win.

BEDFORD - Division I Bedford scored five runs in the sixth inning, rallying to beat Division II St. Thomas.

Graham Willerer had three hits, two RBIs and scored two runs for the Saints, while Cade Murphy and Timmy Avery both had two hits and Sam Grondin homered and had three RBIs.

NASHUA - Hailey O'Kane had two goals and one assist, and Phoebe Christenson had two goals for Exeter in its Division I loss.

Izzy Steiner and Sophia Wilhelm each scored a goal for the Blue Hawks. Exeter goalies Lilyan Blood (six) and Molly Byrne (three) combined for nine saves.

Marshwood 8

Scarborough 6

SCARBOROUGH, Maine - Maddy Poitras' three goals and one assist led Marshwood (3-1) to this Class A win.

Sarah Theriault and Anna Jennings both scored two goals for the Hawks, while Eva Hersey had one goal and one assist. Hadley Prewitt had two assists for Marshwood, which got five saves from goalie Leigh Twohig.

BOYS LACROSSE

Merrimack 3

MERRIMACK - Micah Krick's three goals led Dover to this Division I win. Toby Desroches and Silas Brown both scored two goals for the Green Wave, who got two assists from Lukah Ready and one from Porter Gray.

Dover goalie Dom Chalifour had 17 saves.

Portland 11

Traip Academy 4

KITTERY, Maine - Brody Johnson had three goals and Joey Watts had one goal and one assist for Class C Traip (0-5) in its loss against Class A Portland.

Ulysses Poulou added one assist for the Rangers, while Traip goalie Noah Zykowski had 10 saves.

St. Thomas Aquinas 20

DOVER - Jackson Estes had five goals and four assists, and Finley Detolla had four goals and two assists, leading St. Thomas Aquinas to this Division II win.

Ryan Resch had three goals and two assists for the Saints, while Aidan Morrison (two goals, four assists), Michael Ellis (two goals), Trent Salyards (goal, assist), Luke Daly (goal), and Harper Jellison (goal) all figured in the scoring.

Royal Edgerly had 20 face-off wins for the Saints.

DURHAM - Alex Moody and Tyler Callander both had three goals for Oyster River in this Division II win.

Talon Beyer had two goals and one assist for the Bobcats, while Dee Tsakiris had one goal and two assists, and Jake Failla had two assists. Oyster River goalie Cole Norris had 14 saves.

YORK, Maine - The Class B Wildcats improved to 3-0 on the season with this win over Class C St. Dom's.

In singles, Sophie Pike won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1, Artie Krebs won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2, and Riley Barron won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3.

In doubles, Avery Holt and Kaitlyn Thomas won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1, and the No. 2 tandem of Emily Cyr and Amelia Gregory won by default.

Windham 4

Marshwood 1

WINDHAM, Maine - Lucy Parker won 5-7, 6-4, 10-6 at No. 3 singles, earning Marshwood's lone win in this Class A South match.
