Schedule, how to watch 2024 South Carolina high school wrestling state championships

Eastside and Chesnee will go for boys wrestling state championships Saturday at Dreher High School in Columba.

For Eastside, it's a try for a ninth consecutive state title. The Eagles (36-0) in Class AAAA will face Lugoff-Elgin in a rematch of last season’s championship. This season, Eastside beat Westside in the Upper State semifinals, then Greenwood 45-31 in the finals.

Chesnee (25-3) will face Buford in the Class A/AA championship after taking care of High Point, Dixie and defending state champ Liberty 32-26.

Among Chesnee’s wrestlers ranked among the top three in the state, according to SC Mat, are brothers Thad Gerstenacker (first at 138 pounds), Quinton Gerstenacker (third at 144) and Gunther Gerstenacker (second at 165).

Others ranked from Chesnee include Aiden Allen (second at 285), Wyatt Hawk (third at 132), Tyler Henderson (fourth at 126), Jesse Cozby (fourth at 157), Eli Barnhill (fifth at 106), Ben Hefner (sixth at 120), Taven Pesaro (eighth at 113) and Malachi Hill (eighth at 150).

Eastside has six wrestlers ranked No.1 in their respective weight classes: freshman Nate Manos at 106, George Maholtz at 150, Jack Wyland at 157, Peyton Schrader at 165, Hank Lee at 175 and Baron Leonard at 215.

Others ranked for Eastside are Drayton Johnson (third at 106), Barnett Langston (fifth at 132), Owen Salvato (seventh at 120) and Bronek Snizaski (eighth at 144).

Individual boys and girls state championships will be held Feb. 23-24 at the Anderson Sports and Entertainment Center.

10 a.m.Class AA: Chesnee vs. Buford

NoonClass AAA: No. 1 seed West-Oak vs. Gibert

3 p.m. – Class AAAA: Eastside vs. Lugoff-Elgin

5 p.m. – Class AAAAA: Summerville vs. Fort Mill
