Saturday's Top Prep Performers: Track athletes shine at T.O. Invitational and Relays

Highlights from Saturday in high school sports:

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

At the Thousand Oaks Invitational

  • Royal: The Highlanders set a meet record for the 4x100 (49.11). Olivia Kirk won the 100 (11.95) and 200 (24.96). Quincie Richards set a meet record in the triple jump (37-0.75), placed second in the long jump (18-0), and took third in the 100 (12.75).

  • Westlake: The Warriors won the distance medley (13:36.46) and were second in the 4x100 (51.45). Claudia Turner was second in the pole vault (11-4). Amanda Eames was third in the long jump (18-0).

  • Thousand Oaks: Morgan Quinn set a meet record in the 400 (57.50). Madison Thai won the high jump (5-4). Cassidy Kajita was second in the 1,600 (5:14.13). The Lancers placed third in the 4x100 relay (42.52).

  • Newbury Park: Sophia Grant won the 1,600 (5:11.90). Elyse Grant was third in the 1,600 (5:20.16). The Panthers set a meet record in the 4x800 relay (9:54.57) and were second in the distance medley (13:49.59).

  • Royal: Ava Hermansen was third in the pole vault (10-6). The Highlanders won the 800 sprint medley (1:57.26).

  • Simi Valley: Annika Sorensen was third in the 100 hurdles (16.21).

  • Agoura: Paloma Padilla-Kastenberg was second in the high jump (5-2).

At the Cougar Distance Carnival/Spartan Relays

  • Ventura: Aelo Curtis won the 800 (2:21.90). Violet Hurguy won the 1,600 (5:24.21). Isabella DiSilvestri won the pole vault (10-6) and triple jump (34-6). Valentina Fakrogha won the high jump (5-7). The Cougars won the 4x800 relay (10:35.81).

  • Camarillo: Trinity Tipton was second in the discus (125-5) and shot put (35-9.25). Monet Taylor was second in the 100 hurdles (16.68). Carissa Legaspi was second in the 400 (1:01.90).

  • Oxnard: Halena Marin won the 400 (1:00.99). The Yellowjackets were second in the 4x100 relay (49.00) and second in the 4x800 relay (10:36.71).

  • Rio Mesa: Olivia Weinerth was third in the 800 (2:34.54).

  • Oaks Christian: Payton Godsey (10:39.09) and Grace Geyer (10:54.30) were first and second in the 3,200. Alexandra Reierson was second in the 1,600 (5:25.38).

  • Buena: Madison Easter won the 100 (11.88) and 200 (24.88). The Bulldogs won the 4x100 relay (48.32).

  • Foothill Tech: Bennett Rodman was second in the pole vault (9-6).

  • Moorpark: Lauren Ash was second in the high jump (5-0).

  • St. Bonaventure: Tessa Peterson was third in the high jump (4-8).

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

At Thousand Oaks Invitational

  • Westlake: Cade Sommers set a meet record in the pole vault (16-0). Ylian Ostojic won the 200 (22.31). Lawson Grace was second in the shot put (46-9). Dante Deshautelle was second in the high jump (6-0). The Warriors placed second in the 4x100 relay (42.52). Malikai Bowens was second in the triple jump (42-8).

  • Thousand Oaks: Liam Papavasiliou won the 1,600 (4:17.29). Andrew Simon-Lacombe won the long jump (22-2.50).

  • Royal: Sean Sandwick won the shot put (47-0). Asher Lee (4:20.39) was second in the 1,600 (4:20.39). The Highlanders were third in the 800 sprint medley (1:38.94).

  • Simi Valley: Gavin Hammond won the high jump (6-0). Logan Pollard was second in the 100 (10.92).

At the Cougar Distance Carnival/Spartan Relays

  • Buena: Chase Pritchard won the triple jump (41-10). Maxwell Daniel won the 110 hurdles (15.90). Grant Molina was second in the high jump (6-0).

  • Hueneme: J.R. Lesher won the 1,600 (4:20.52).

  • Camarillo: Diego Montag was third in the 1,600 (4:21.09).

  • Oaks Christian: Christian Yoder won the 3,200 (9:33.66). Mike Lennox was third in the 3,200 (9:43.25).

  • Moorpark: Jalen Carnes won the 100 (10.89). Thomas White was second in the 3,200 (9:38.40).

  • Foothill Tech: Conor White was second in the 800 (2:01.45). The Dragons won the 4x800 relay (8:37.75).

  • Ventura: Miles Russell won the long jump (21-5.50). Antonio DiSilvestri won the pole vault (13-6). Erik MuroMurillo won the shot put (52-0). Kadyn Farmer was second in the triple jump (40-6).

  • Pacifica: Julian Fuentes was second in the long jump (18-9).

  • Rio Mesa: Jackson Knowles won the high jump (6-2).

  • St. Bonaventure: Christian Diaz won the 200 (22.52).

  • Oxnard: Shaun Tolson won the 400 (52.10). Caleb Marzette was second in the 200 (22.81).

BASEBALL

  • Caden Salazar went 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Zach Nagy was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Isaiah Tillman went 2 for 4, Lucas Markand was 1 for 1 with three walks, an RBI and two runs scored, and Nathan O'Brien allowed two hits and two earned runs with four strikeouts in 4.1 innings to lead Royal (10-2, 2-1) to a 5-4 victory over Oak Park in a Coastal Canyon League game. Ryan Kobayashi went 2 for 3 with three RBIs, Colin Bruns was 2 for 3 with a double, and Tyler Kutsch had a double and an RBI for the Eagles (2-4, 0-2).

  • Diego Barajas allowed one hit while striking out five in four scoreless innings, Raul Centeno, Braeden Jarvis and Gavin Serr each tossed a shutout inning, Jaxon Herron was 1 for 4 with two RBIs, Hector Pina went 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Liam Blake was 2 for 2 to lead Simi Valley to a 4-0 victory over El Segundo in a nonleague game.

  • Cameron Fausset allowed one hit and no earned runs while striking out 12 in five innings, Cade Falsken was 3 for 5 with a home run and three RBIs, Luke Medhurst went 3 for 4 with three RBIs, Tyler Field went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Alan Espinal was 2 for 2 with an RBI, Cole Munyon had a double and an RBI, and Andrew Vega was 1 for 3 with an RBI to lead Newbury Park (5-3) to 14-0 win over San Marcos in a nonleague game.

  • Josh Brown went 3 for 3 with a double, home run and two RBIs, Carson Sheffer was 3 for 4 with a double and three runs scored, Chris Tampoya was 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI, James Latshaw was 1 for 3 with two RBIs, Elijah Clayton went 1 for 3 with an RBI, and Ty Hanely allowed three hits and a run in five innings to lead Oaks Christian (4-3) to an 8-1 win over Moorpark in a nonleague game. Greg Lareva went 1 for 3 with an RBI for the Musketeers (5-6-1).

  • Dario Navarro earned the win in the mound and was 1 for 3 with an RBI at the plate, Ricky Garcia went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, Emiliano Becerra was 1 for 3 with an RBI, Chris Santos was 1 for 1 with a double, and Elijah Pizano went 1 for 3 to lead Pacifica to a 7-5 win over Dunn in a nonleague game.

  • Jon Gurrola was 1 for 1 with an RBI, Josh Woodworth had a double, and Noah Tam had an RBI to lead Ventura (6-5) to a 7-6 win over Skyline in a nonleague game.

SOFTBALL

  • Agoura defeated Calabasas 16-0 in five innings and Oak Park 12-3 in five innings at the Suzanne Manlet Tournament in Simi Valley. Against Calabasas, Amaya Del Olmo went 3 for 4 with a triple and five RBIs, Briona Ferdman finished 4 for 4 with an RBI, Rylee Redmond was 1 for 3 with three RBIs, and Aly Chavez was 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI. Against Oak Park, Del Olmo went 3 for 4 with two home runs and six RBIs, Mia Gomez was 3 for 4 with a homer, Ferdman finished 3 for 4 with an RBI, Jordy Charash was 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, Redmond went 3 for 3 with an RBI, and Aurelia Ehry was 2 for 4 with an RBI.

  • Rio Mesa defeated San Pedro 5-0 and South 1-0 at the Torrance Tournament to improve to 7-0. In the first game, Jasmine Reyes pitched a three-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts, Jocelyn Gomez and Jaslene Rios each went 2 for 2 with two RBIs, Analia Lopez was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, and Mariah Reyes had a double. In the second game, Lopez pitched a four-hit shutout with nine strikeouts and Sarah Coccillos hit a solo home run.

  • Oaks Christian defeated St. Mary's 10-0 in four innings and Banning 9-1 in five innings at the Bishop Gorman Tournament in Las Vegas. In the first game, Ilove’a Brittingham was 3 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs, Giabella Otani went 3 for 3 with two doubles, a triple and three RBIs, Rylee McCoy was 2 for 3 with an RBI, Terrianna Kelley was 1 for 2 with a double and two RBIs, and Sienna Reynolds allowed two hits while striking out 11 in four scoreless innings. In the second game, Otani went 3 for 3 with two doubles and an RBI, Brittingham was 2 for 3 with a homer, Janelle Rillo-Figueroa finished 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Breanna Borck went 2 for 3 with a homer and two RBIs, and Paityn Lavin allowed two hits and run while striking out seven in four innings.

  • Sophia Valencia went 3 for 4 with two RBIs, Justice Flores was 2 for 2 with two walks, Angelina Apodaca hit a home run, and Cali Howe finished 2 for 3 with an RBI to lead Camarillo (7-1) to a 9-3 victory over Bonita Vista.
