Saturday's college roundup, local results: Cady accounts for 6 TDs, boosts Assumption
Football
Assumption 42, Southern Connecticut State 29: Jake Cady completed 23 of 30 for 334 yards and five touchdowns without an interception as the 23rd-ranked Greyhounds (2-0) won their Northeast-10 opener in New Haven.
Cady also rushed for the other score for Assumption, which led, 21-14, at halftime.
Nichols 70, Dean 7: One week after losing, 57-6, to UMass-Dartmouth, the visiting Bison (1-1) won by nine touchdowns.
Archie Killian rushed for 130 yards and Zahir Booker for 122 yards, with the pair combining for five TDs. Xavier Powell was 10 of 12 for 140 yards and three touchdowns. Nichols collected 565 total yards, averaging 8.9 yards per play.
Vermont State-Castleton 32, Fitchburg State 3: Jonah Costa's 20-yard field goal gave the host Falcons (0-2) an early 3-0 lead, but the Spartans (2-0) pulled away with a 22-0 third quarter.
Coast Guard 93, Anna Maria 24: Justin Brown carried eight times for 106 yards and a touchdown, and Kevin Acosta Jr. caught seven passes for 138 yards and a score, but the visiting AmCats (1-1) trailed, 56-10, at halftime against the Bears (1-1) in New London, Connecticut.

WPI 0, Skidmore 0: Julian Quaresima stopped a penalty kick early and finished with five saves as the host Engineers (1-1-2) drew with the Thoroughbreds (0-1-2).
Framingham State 3, Clark 2: Nico Carrillo scored the tying goal in the second half for the host Cougars, but the Rams connected for the winner in the 82nd minute. Clark's Carter Benoff had goal and assist.
Rhode Island College 3, Fitchburg State 1: Edwin Daramy scored in the 22nd minute to tie the game for the host Falcons (2-2), but the Anchormen (4-0) tallied twice more in the first half.
Western Connecticut State 2, Nichols 0: The Bison (2-3) finished their Berkshires weekend 1-1 after falling to the Wolves (2-1) at Williams College, with Nichols' Derek Axon posting six saves.
Dartmouth 3, Holy Cross 1: Evan Jones scored in the 60th minute for the visiting Crusaders (1-3-1) against the Big Green (1-2).

Clark 8, Regis 1: Greer McCarty and Ciaran Cubbage each scored twice, Abbe Cravinho and Alison Kopec both had a goal and assist, and Rachael Romain dealt two assists as the host Cougars (2-1) powered past the Pride (0-3).
