Staunton's Ele Feldmann wins the SJ-R's athlete of the week poll

Staunton's Ele Feldmann won the State Journal-Register's athlete of the week poll.

She won with 11,929 votes. Litchfield's Rilynn Younker was second with 11,220 votes.

The poll closed at noon on Friday. Information about the nominees is below. Gillespie's Mia Brawner won the previous poll with 894 votes.

The sophomore won his first individual 2A sectional title at Mahomet-Seymour on Saturday. He defeated Will Kelly of Troy Triad, 6-0, to earn his second straight trip to the state finals. He improved to 40-5 overall at 106 pounds.

The senior pinned Chatham Glenwood's Cody Moss to claim his first 2A sectional title at Mahomet-Seymour at 215 pounds and punch his first ticket to the state finals in Champaign after bowing out in the sectional wrestleback semifinals last year.

Cassie Cox, Petersburg PORTA/A-C Central, girls basketball

The junior forward mustered 12 points, three rebounds, two steals and an assist in a 45-27 Sangamo Conference win over Pleasant Plains on Wednesday to clinch the outright league title.

Isaac Crumrine, Riverton, boys basketball

The senior paced the Hawks with nine points in a 31-26 Sangamo Conference win over New Berlin on Friday. He furnished a steal for a Julian Rice layup before scooping in a layup to trigger a 12-0 run to end the game.

Ele Feldmann, Staunton, girls basketball

The junior guard poured in a game-high 17 points in a 46-44 South Central Conference victory over Carlinville on Monday. She had seven points in the third quarter for a 35-33 lead. The Bulldogs won the outright SCC title.

Pryor Reynolds, Athens, boys basketball

The senior standout starred with 27 points in a 53-42 Sangamo Conference win over Mason City Illini Central on Friday. He had 19 in the second half. On Tuesday, he engineered 16 points in a 46-30 Sangamo upset over Riverton.

Cooper Schallenberg, Pleasant Plains, boys basketball

The junior guard registered four 3s and totaled 27 points to reach 1,000 career points in a 78-54 Sangamo Conference victory to tie for first place in the league standings with New Berlin, Riverton and Auburn.

Jenna Tuxhorn, Chatham Glenwood, girls wrestling

The sophomore, ranked No. 5 statewide by Illinois Matmen at 135 pounds, edged No. 4 Jordan Bicknell of Stanford Olympia with a 2-1 decision for the championship in a ranked showdown at the Peoria Richwoods Sectional on Saturday. That lifted her record to 20-2 overall.

Rilynn Younker, Litchfield, girls wrestling

The freshman chalked up a 7-2 decision over Marrissa Miller for the 110-pound crown at the Peoria Richwoods Sectional. She is 25-9.
