Victor Wembanyama has probably faced the challenge of people mispronouncing his long unique last name many times since arriving in the United States. However, during the recent San Antonio Spurs game against the Golden State Warriors, he had to face an additional issue with his last name being misspelled on the back of his NBA jersey.

Before the NBA In-Season Tournament game started, the error went unnoticed and Wembanyama played the entire first half with his name spelled as Wembanyama, with an "N" instead of an "M." However, after halftime, he emerged from the locker room wearing a different jersey with the correct spelling of his last name. From now onwards, Wembanyama will have to spell-check his jerseys before every game to avoid any such mishap in the future.

San Antonio's struggles continued as they lost 118-112 against Golden State, adding an eleventh straight loss.

Wembanyama, the seven-foot-four Frenchman, scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the game. However, the No. 1 pick rookie had his shot blocked by Gary Payton II, who is a foot shorter than Wembanyama and stands at six-foot-two, making for the second viral moment of the evening.

The San Antonio Spurs are currently tied for the worst record in the Western Conference and are 0-4 in NBA In-Season Tournament Group play.

In a postgame interview with media after the San Antonio Spurs loss to the Golden State Warriors on Friday, Victor Wembanyama expressed his disappointment in the misspelling of his last name, which he did not notice before the game.

"I don't know if someone got fired but the Spurs did their job checking on my name and acknowledge it," Wembanyama said. "I don't know but it is a real shame."

Wembanyama will make sure to take the correctly spelled jersey as the San Antonio Spurs hit the road to take on the Denver Nuggets for a Sunday night regular season game.
