Will Saints and Falcons be a shootout?

NFL: Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints
NFL: Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons typically play in high-scoring games. Drew Brees and Matt Ryan lead a pair of aerial assaults. Such is life when offenses include Brandin Cooks and Julio Jones, two of the fastest and most talented wide receivers.

Well, the Saints and Raiders matchup was incredibly high-scoring in Week 1. However, after defeating the New York Giants 52-49 last season, their rematch turned out to be a 16-13 G-Men victory. So it’s hard to know right now which Saints defense will show up. If I’m allowed to be honest, Brees will destroy the Falcons secondary at home. Their defense didn’t looked all that good against Jameis Winston or Derek Carr.

Though the Saints kept Odell Beckham Jr. in check, it’ll be a much tougher task in slowing down Julio Jones. He is one of the most explosive receivers the league has ever seen. No doubt they should implement double-coverage, considering he’s the man that really spearheads the Falcons offense.

As of right now, this matchup has the showings for a shootout. Matt Ryan has been on point so far, and the Falcons never seem to have an answer for Brees. This is a very crucial game for New Orleans, who’ll surely be out of the NFC South race if they fall to 0-3. A win here would ensure they’re no more than one game behind Tampa Bay and/or Carolina for first in the division. Or there could even be a three-way tie.
