Sabathia looks sharp in return from DL

CC Sabathia made an impressive return from the disabled list Friday, tossing 7 1/3 innings of one-run ball to beat the Indians and snap the Yankees' three-game losing streak.

Sabathia, who spent 15 days on the disabled list with inflammation in his left elbow, retired the first 10 batters of the game before giving up a solo home run by Asdrubal Cabrera.

"I felt pretty good in the bullpen and stuff, so I was excited about getting out there today," said Sabathia, who now leads the Yankees with 13 wins. "It feels really good. We'll see the next couple of days and go from there."

Sabathia worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the fifth, then faced runners at the corners and one out in the sixth before striking out both Michael Brantley and Matt LaPorta to keep the game tied at 1.

"Really, I'm just trying to get a double play," Sabathia said. "I ended up getting a couple of strikeouts, but I was just trying to get a ground ball to turn a double play."

Sabathia was given a lead in the seventh when Nick Swisher hit a two-run homer. The left-hander knew what to do with it, throwing a quick 1-2-3 inning in the seventh to keep the momentum on the Yankees' side.

"That's what you want to do," Sabathia said. "It's a 1-1 game, Swish hits a big homer, you want to go out and try to shut it down. I think that really helped."
