Rutgers football vs. Iowa: Prediction, point spread, odds, best bet

After enjoying the comforts of home last week, the Scarlet Knights will head on the road for their latest conference game. On Saturday, Rutgers will face Iowa in Iowa City for the first time in four years. The Scarlet Knights will be looking to get back in the win column after their two-game winning streak ended last week against Ohio State.

However, Rutgers will be facing an Iowa team that has been very good this year. Through nine games, the Hawkeyes have posted a 7-2 record and are ranked as the 22nd-best team in the country heading into Week 11. Against Big Ten teams, they already have four wins.

While this game should provide plenty of fireworks, it is another tough test for the Scarlet Knights. They will face a team ranked in the top 25 for the second straight week. A victory, however, would give Rutgers their largest win total in a single season in over ten years.

Players to Watch: Rutgers at No. 22 Iowa

Christian Dremel: As Rutgers looks to get back on track after losing to Ohio State last week, Dremel will be relied on heavily. The New Jersey native leads Rutgers in receptions with 28 and receiving yards with 363. Wimsatt will need his favorite target at his best to help move the chains.

Deacon Hill: With Cade McNamara lost for the season due to a torn ACL, the Hawkeyes will turn to Hill. So far this season, the talented sophomore has completed 47 of 113 passes for 492 yards. Iowa should be in good hands if he can take care of the football.

Prediction: Rutgers at No. 22 Iowa

Take Iowa in this one. So far this season, the Hawkeyes have thrived in conference play with a 4-2 record. The same cannot be said for Rutgers, who are 3-3 against Big Ten teams after losing to Ohio State last week. If Iowa’s defense can keep Gavin Wimsatt and Kyle Monangai in check, they should be able to grind out yet another win.

Past History

Entering this matchup, Iowa is 3-0 against Rutgers in the all-time series. In the three meetings between these two teams, Iowa has outscored Rutgers 71-17. On Saturday, Rutgers will be looking for redemption, as the last time they played in Iowa City, they lost 30-0 in 2019.
