Rutgers football hosted punter Samuel Crossan on Tuesday for spring practice

Samuel Crossan visited Rutgers football on Tuesday to take in a spring practice.

A special teams standout, Crossan is one of the top punter prospects in the nation. The class of 2024 recruit plays for Red Lion Christian Academy (Bear, DE).

Last season, he was an impressive 33-for-36 from his point-after attempts. He showed some impressive range, making a 36-yard field goal attempt as well.

But he is likely to be a punter at the next level. Last season, Crossan averaged 42.1 yards per punt and 53.1 yards on kickoffs.

Crossan and his family spent time with Bob Fraser following Tuesday’s practice. Fraser is a seasoned veteran coach who is the special adviser to Rutgers football head coach Greg Schiano.

For Rutgers, the 2024 recruiting class currently stands at three players:

  • Kenny Jones (three-star offensive tackle; Delran, N.J.)

  • Gabriel Winowich (four-star running back; Beverly Hills, MI)

  • A.J. Surace (three-star quarterback; Lawrenceville, N.J.)

  • In  the 2022 recruiting class, Rutgers landed three-star Micah Wing, a defensive end from Delaware.
