Rumor: Kings’ Sasha Vezenkov to miss at least a few weeks due to injury
Sacramento Kings rookie Sasha Vezenkov will reportedly miss some time due to a sprained right ankle, according to Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee.
Vezenkov recently missed seven games due to the injury originally sustained on Jan. 22 in a win over the Atlanta Hawks. He returned last week and played in a pair of games but reinjured the same ankle in practice on Saturday and sat out on Sunday against Oklahoma City.
The former EuroLeague MVP said at shootaround on Friday that the ankle wasn’t 100%, though it was improving. The team hasn’t set a timetable for his return, but he is expected to be sidelined for at least a few weeks, according to the report.

Vezenkov is averaging 5.6 points and 2.5 rebounds on 38% shooting from 3-point range in 35 appearances this season with the Kings. He ranks ninth among rookies in 3-point percentage and has scored in double figures seven times.
The 28-year-old signed a three-year, $20 million contract with the Kings last summer after spending five years with Olympiacos in Greece. He was named the MVP last season after averaging 17.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists on 38.3% shooting from 3-point range.
Vezenkov, who was born in Cyprus, also holds citizenship with Bulgaria and has represented the country in international events, most recently in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifiers last July.
