Who rules the pool? Meet the YAIAA swimmers and divers to watch in 2023-24
By all accounts, York Suburban girls had a pretty good swim season last year.
They went undefeated in league competition to win the Division II title and finished as the District 3 Class 2A runner-up. This year the Trojans want more.
They want a district title to add a banner on the natatorium wall they practice in front of every day. A combined 21 titles have been won by the York Suburban boys’ and girls’ teams. Between banners for those titles and others for league titles and All-American certificates, there isn’t much blank space on that wall.
Trying to find space to recognize a seventh girls’ title would be a good job to have.
“We want to get as many people qualified for districts as possible,” senior Brynn Neidigh said. “We want to win the district team title and repeat in the 200 free relay and add the 400 free relay.”
Neidigh is the only senior among the four upperclassmen the Trojans return from last year’s squad. Juniors Chloe Chevaux, Chloe Moore and Sarah Koller round out the list. Chevaux and Moore were all-stars last year and both had top-five finishes in two District 3 Class 2A races.
On the boys’ side, the Trojans return sophomore Mikey Foremsky and junior Logan Saunders.
“The boys have a pretty young team,” third-year coach Miranda Jenkins said. “We have small numbers. It’s hard to compete against wrestling and basketball. We have pockets of talent, we just run out of bodies.”
The Trojan boys have nowhere to go but up after finishing 1-3 in the division last year. Susquehannock went unbeaten to take the Division II title, but many of last year’s big names graduated.
Senior Jackson Hollinger is the top swimmer back for the Warriors. An all-star, he finished second in the District 3 Class 2A 200 and 500 free races.
In Division I, Dallastown won the boys’ title and Central York and South Western shared the girls’ title.

South Western lost three major contributors on the girls’ side, but return juniors Elly Leonard and Chloe Albrecht to pace the Mustangs. They are off to a hot start after a 107-75 win over Susquehanock in their opener.
Dallastown senior Julia Havice and Dover senior Taylor Tuohy are the only defending District 3 champs in the league.
Havice won the Class 3A 50 free title and finished second in the 100 free. She finished eighth in the PIAA 50 free.
Tuohy won the Class 3A diving title last year after finishing second to Class 2A champ Taelyn Thomas of West York in the league meet. Thomas, a two-time district champ, graduated a year early and now dives for Clarion University.
Here is a look at the top returning swimmers and others who could make a splash this season.
