The Akron RubberDucks continue their season celebration of things that are uniquely Akron by honoring the legacy of White French dressing as part of their “Only in Akron” series.

The team will rebrand as the Akron White French to celebrate the white tinged dressing that is unique to Summit County July 19.

For those who dine in area, the creamy, garlic-flavored concoction and its origins are debatable, but it has been served in Papa Joe’s Iacomini Restaurant for generations. The concoction (recipe can be found here), made former Beacon Journal food writer Lisa Abraham’s “Taste of Akron Top 20” list in 2012. It can be found bottled by Ya Ya’s Dressings locally.

“White French salad dressing is truly a unique Akron creation,” RubberDucks President and General Manager Jim Pfander said in a statement. “From Papa Joe’s to Ken Stewart’s to the many Akronites who have mixed up their own versions at home, this salad dressing is an Akron favorite.”

A ticket package, which includes a hat, costs $40 and is on sale now.
