Rox first baseman Jackson Hauge wins Home Run Derby Challenge

BISMARCK, SD — The St. Cloud Rox's power-hitting first baseman Jackson Hauge won the Northwoods League's Home Run Derby Challenge on Monday night.

Hauge, a Ramsey native, hit 12 bombs representing the Rox (15-9 second half) and the Great Plains West, the most out of the 18 participants. The Great Plains West beat the East 56-43 in the derby, which was hosted by the Bismarck Larks this year.

Hauge is a redshirt junior from Minnesota State Mankato and leads the Rox in RBI while hitting .293.

He was also one of six Rox selected to the Great Plains West all-star roster for the game at 7:05 p.m., Tuesday in Bismarck, North Dakota. Hauge is a first-timer on the roster, as is Creighton junior Cade Lommel, Tarleton State junior Piercen McElyea, Creighton junior Tommy Gross and Brigham Young junior Mason Olson. John Nett, who transferred from St. Cloud State to Kansas for his graduate season this summer, will play in his second consecutive all-star game for the Rox.

The Great Lakes Division All-Star Game was July 25 in Traverse City, Michigan. Tuesday night's game will air on ESPNU featuring the Rox.

St. Cloud exits the all-star break Thursday on the road against the La Crosse Loggers (20-4) sitting in second place in its division. The Rox are one game behind the Willmar Stingers, who already secured a playoff berth by winning the division's first-half standings.
