Rouse baseball slugger Landon Miller voted Austin-area Boys Athlete of the Week
Rouse baseball player Landon Miller, who led the Raiders to an 8-4 win over Alamo Heights in the deciding Game 3 of their Class 5A area-round playoff series, was voted the Covert Chevrolet Bastrop Austin-Area Boys Athlete of the Week for May 6-11.
Round Rock triple jumper Xavier Drumgoole won the previous poll, for April 29 through May 4.
Miller, who hit a grand slam and a double and had five RBIs in the win, received nearly 52% of the vote. Westwood baseball player Ridge Morgan, the Westwood tennis doubles team of Sibi Raja and Aditya Paravasthuramesh, and Cedar Park baseball player Brady Richardson also were candidates.
The American-Statesman will have a weekly vote for Boys Athlete of the Week and Girls Athlete of the Week throughout the academic year.
