Roundup: Chillicothe tennis stomps Circleville, Piketon and Westfall girls golf head to districts

GIRLS TENNIS

Chillicothe 4, Circleville 1: The Cavaliers cruised to their 14th win of the season after taking down the Tigers at home on Monday. At No. 1 singles, Judea Harding won 6-3, 6-2, at No. 2 singles, Avery Miller won 6-1, 6-1, and at No. 3 singles, Kynze Bayes was defeated 6-1, 6-1.

At No. 1 doubles, Bella Flores and Kayla Penn won 6-0, 6-2, and at No. 2 doubles, Lillian Brown and Thao Nguyen won 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-5).

GIRLS GOLF

Division II Sectional at Buckeye Hills: Westfall, Zane Trace, Adena and Southeastern all took part in their sectional tournament at Buckeye Hills Country Club on Monday. The Mustangs all qualified as a team after ending their round with a team score of 342 after 18 holes. Paige Weiss shot the team-low, as well as the second-lowest score in the match, with a 69, Caroline Sever shot an 86, Marianna Packer shot an 89 and Kathryn Lockhart shot a 98.

Although Adena and Zane Trace did not qualify as teams, they still managed to have one player each advance as individuals. Adena's Sydney Ater punched her ticket after shooting a 76 to mark the fourth-lowest score of the match, while Zane Trace's Mary Helber tied Packer with an 89 for the ninth-lowest score overall. Southeastern's Maddie Woods shot the team-low and tied for 21st place with Adena's Alexis Blankenship after shooting a 99.

Division II Sectional at Franklin Valley: Piketon, Huntington and Waverly all took part in their own sectional tournament at Franklin Valley Golf Course in Jackson on Monday.

Piketon managed to qualify as a team after taking second place overall with a team score of 405. Brynna Spencer shot the team-low 98 and Maggie Armstrong ended her round with a 99, which earned them fifth and sixth place as individuals respectively. Laila Kelley tied for eighth place overall with a 100, and Renee Hill tied for 28th place with a 113.

Waverly took eighth place as a team with a score of 479. Saylor Crace and Avery Nathan tied for the team-low after each shooting 117. Bre Dutcher shot a 119, and Makaila Elliott ended her round with a 126. Huntington took 10th place with a team score of 545. Kendahl Pollock shot a 121, while Rylee Nolan shot a 127. Leah Brown had a 148, and Emma Keller shot a 149.
